Firefighters Respond to Fire Company Closures
January 28, 2009 11:07 AM PST
On January 5th, the Nutter Administration closed seven fire companies in Philadelphia neighborhoods. These closures, along with cuts to neighborhood library branches and recreation centers, are part of city budget cuts that are primarily affecting Philadelphia's poor and working class residents. Erika Almiron, of Media Mobilizing Project, interviewed Dave Kearney of the Philadelphia Firefighters’ Union. He explains how the mayor’s cuts to firestations will affect firefighters and Philadelphians. For more information on their ongoing fight, go to the Philadelphia Firefighters' Union webpage: <http://www.iaff22.org/> |
