Taxi Drivers Discuss Poor Working Conditions Caused by Faulty GPS System
March 22, 2009 12:21 AM PDT
In 2006, the Philadelphia Parking Authority mandated that GPS systems be installed in all of Philly's taxicabs. Aside from questions about the PPA's contract with Taxitronics for the GPS units -- Taxitronics had their GPS contract with the City of New York revoked after a government investigation uncovered corruption in how Taxitronics won the lucrative contract -- there are persistent problems with the GPS units. Patrick Anamah & Femi Animashaun discuss the problems that cab drivers face due to these faulty GPS units, and appeal to the Philadelphia Parking Authority to correct its mistake. |
